There are quite a number of websites that would promise you all the benefits of submitting your resume over their website but ultimately you will find that you are not getting the exposure you actually demand. You are not even being called by well known companies and the job search results are proving to be quite futile for you since you are not getting the jobs that suit your qualifications perfectly. So in these cases how do you intend to help yourself? Will you sit idle and wait till you land up on the golden opportunity, or decide to shed off your passive gown and take up an active role? I think it is time that you change the resume submitting site.
In this article we will take a look at the features of a good website which you can choose to go with. The features must make you feel confident so that you are ready to move for a better alternative. Now let us take a look at them.
It must be a well reputed and well known site
A site that is well known and has a good reputation can actually help you attract the attention of potential employers. They are well equipped enough to make your search really short and just bring forward those options which are good enough for you to consider. All the big names and the companies that would value your qualifications and experience would be brought in front of you within a short period of time.
The site should protect your personal information responsibly
Now there are quite a number of sites that can not help sending emails to you even after you have removed your resume and also give the link of your email id to other sources that would keep buzzing you over a period of time. You should avoid such sites that would be a constant source of problem to you even after you have bagged a job with the help of them. And you must be careful with the fact that you are not disclosing some of your real confidential and personal information to them. If the site is not responsible enough then chances are that your information gets tampered.
Such a site should be used that is user friendly
If the sites are not user friendly, then you will naturally not feel very comfortable working with them. In a site there are many other features apart from just uploading your resume. There can be features of using free tools and if these processes land up to be confusing then chances are that you will not feel very happy working with it and you shall not even get to extract the best out of the site. Moreover not only you, even the recruiters must find it easy to use or else your resume would remain undiscovered for a long period of time.
So these are some of the features you must look for your alternative search. Resume boomer is quite a good option in this case and even sites like careerbuilder and indeed.com may also be considered.

SaaS Platform Makes a Difference
by: Jason Harrison
If you are a retailer with anywhere from 3 to 25 locations, you may be struggling to keep track of all of your inventory and sales. In fact, you probably need to look into POS retail systems. Point of sale retail systems make the difference between getting real-time information and always being a step behind the game. It can make the difference between a sale and a loss. In order to survive in today's up to the minute world, one needs to be fully integrated and connected.
Locating a company that offers Software as a Service (SaaS) is the best way to go for POS retail systems. This type of platform can help you get the integrated POS retail system you are looking for without bulky servers and costly overhead. Cost-effective service with highly trained support of all technical issues is important to you. Your business wants to link all of its locations together so that you can easily manage store operations without time being wasted. Knowing what is on hand, in transit or on order is exactly what POS retail systems provide.
One benefit of a POS retail system with a SaaS platform is that sales can be increased. For instance, if a customer in a clothing shop wants a particular piece of clothing in a certain size, he wants it now. If it is not in the store location where he is shopping, your salesman can immediately determine where it is through the hosted POS retail system, and can find out how long it will take to get it in. This may save you a sale and actually give you a repeat customer, because we all know that happy customers come back and shop again.
Another benefit of POS retail systems is the ability to reduce costs. Double ordering can be eliminated through the instant knowledge of real-time inventory one gets with a POS retail system. If you know what is selling and what isn't, you can order ?hot' items on the fly. Having notification of all orders being placed by managers or purchasers through your POS retail system will help you stay on top of your inventory as well. Lack of information can be expensive. Having instant, accurate information at your fingertips with a POS retail system will help you to reduce costs.
Instead of hiring a company that has high prices and expensive POS retail system hardware and software with long-term contracts, you can find a company that has short-term subscriptions and reasonable prices. Going with a POS retail system that offers SaaS will provide you with easy support. Choosing a company with the experience of years of providing POS retail systems will ensure that they can more easily tailor your POS retail system to meet your needs.
With the SaaS type of POS retail system, you can integrate your current hardware rather than needing to purchase new things. Whether you use Java, Windows or UNIX applications, the company can interface with your current system. Your new POS retail system will keep you integrated and on top of things. You will wonder how you ever got along without your SaaS based POS retail system.

How to Choose the Best Point of Sale Software
by: Jason Harrison
With many technological innovations, we hear the promises of ?unmatched excellence', ?the most user-friendly', and ?just what your business needs.' But amid all of these promises, we know that one of the products must be superior to the others. With point of sale software it can seem difficult to know which system will actually be the best for your retail chain and the situation it finds itself in. ?How can I get the most of my investment in a POS software system?" is the question on most entrepreneurs' minds.
Number one is the selection of your particular software. You need to make sure that the point of sale software is right for your business. If you are running a clothing store, one which features a bar code scanner is essential, yet at the same time, a restaurant may not need such a tool. If you are in a very niche specific part of the market, it would be wise to look into point of sale software systems that are designed specifically for such endeavors. As you look at the types of systems, be sure to look at hosted systems that offer Software as a Service (SaaS) because this type of system can truly meet all of your needs.
Once you select the proper system, it is important to know how to use it. It might seem like common sense, but you need to be familiar with all of the capabilities of your particular point of sale software system. If you purchase the software, trained specialists will give a tutorial and you must take full advantage of this. With the help of these professionals and the manual, you as the owner must get very familiar with the different operations that your system can run. Using a hosted SaaS system really cuts down on the amount of time you must spend learning new software, because they work with your existing software and hardware.
Another helpful tip is that you need to develop trust in your point of sale software system. The algorithms and procedures that the system is designed to run have been well tested in the retail chain store industry and will help you to make correct decisions. You must go by the numbers generated by your point of sale software. Your gut feelings or hunches need to be ignored in favor of the concrete evidence that the computer will give you. With this tip in mind, you need to review your business's performance on a weekly or even daily basis to know what is actually happening on the sales floor. Just having point of sale software that can make fancy reports is not enough. You need to look at and analyze the reports to make the correct business decisions.
Finally, you need to make proper use of the inventory reports that the system will give you. Underperforming stock needs to be sold as soon as possible. As the merchandise sits on your sales floor, it is costing you money. You need to determine a price or amount of time at which the product is costing you more money than it is worth. The hosted SaaS point of sale software system will be instrumental for inventory management.

Clash of the Titans: Interactive TV vs Regular TV
by: Alan Spencer
Quality on screen
Interactive tv is a form of digital tv and that means nothing more than razor sharp images and lots of eye for detail. A regular tv is analogue and that results in static. The images are granular and that won’t happen with interactive tv.
Amount of channels
Digital or interactive tv means a lot more channels than you get on your regular tv. Lots of foreign channels, but also theme channels about travelling, cooking, cars… basically any subject has its own channel! Of course sports and films have their own channels too, but you’ll have to pay extra for those.
Making decisions
With a regular tv you’re forced to turn to your tv guide. This isn’t the case with interactive tv. You can choose whatever you want to watch, whenever you want to watch it. It’s no problem is you’ve missed something you’d wanted to watch, because you can tape the stuff you want to see! Another advantage is that you can fast forward those annoying, long commercial breaks. This of course, is impossible with a normal tv.
A box
A normal tv you just switch on and you can watch tv. Or flick through channels because that’s why you’ve got that remote control. It’s not as simple with digital/interactive tv. You’ll need to install a box that receives digital tv. Plug it in with the scart cable and then just kick back and relax while flicking through a whole mother load of extra channels. If you want to be able to tape things, get yourself a hard disk recorderd. When you decide to get ITV, you usually get the choice anyway: a tv-receiver or a tv-receiver with hard disk recorder. Of course it’s possible to tape stuff with a normal tv as well. Use the almost extinct videorecorder or the more modern dvd recorder.
Interactive participation
With ITV you can actually participate in programs. With regular tv you just grab a pen and write down answers during a quiz or test, with interactive tv you use the remote control to push buttons to vote and pick answers while watching.
Home cinema
Of course you can just as easily hire a dvd or watch a movies at home with your regular tv set. With interactive tv however, you’ll bring home the cinema. Or more like the video shop, because with one push of the button you’ll enter a long lists of movies you can watch. Apart from those there are also lots of tv series available. Just sit back and watch whatever you want without having to leave the house on a rainy day.
Watch missed shows
With a regular tv you have to wait for the rerun if you’ve missed a program you wanted to see. And waiting sucks, especially if they air the rerun at a ridiculous time at night or in the morning right in the middle of the week. If you’ve got interactive tv, you can watch everything you’ve missed today or yesterday with Missed Airings. The whole grid of the three main channels is available, but you can rewatch other channels too. Just adjust your subscription.

The Difference Between ADSL & Cable
by: Alan Spencer
Through the phone line
Although most people don’t even use their home phone anymore (cell phone, anyone?), the line that makes that connection is the main difference between ADSL and cable internet. ADSL enters your house through that line, while cable comes in via a datanetwork your cable company provides. Both connections are broadband.
So?
Cable goes through a network and that means you actually share the available connection with other people. And if those people like to download you’ll soon notice that the speed of your internet connection decreases. How ‘bout that! You’re paying for stuff that’s not even yours alone! ADSL on the other hand is just for you so there’s no sharing with the rest of the ‘hood. Be aware though: cable is not guranteed to be slower than ADSL! It can actually be faster…
Tech talk: ADSL
Without getting too technical, you might want to know ho wit works backstage. ADSL comes in through a analogue or digital phone line. This means the availability is very high. But there’s a big flaw in the whole ADSL game. If you don’t live close enough to the power station, the speed of your internet goes down rapidly. Bandwidth always stays the same, but quality (speed) might decrease. It might happen, it’s not guarenteed to happen!
Tech talk: cable
Cable is commonly described as a possibility to reach a high maximum download speed. But again, you share this with other people so you might end up paying for a service that doesn’t really live up to its prize…
One or more providers
Another factor is that within most cable networks usually one provider rules the line. For real, you can’t choose another company. ADSL however is on your own phone line and you can see for yourself who holds that line. That’s the law, to be exact. But the signal goes down if you’re too far from the power station, the maximum distance is said to be 4 km and basically that’s nothing.
So what’s the best choice?
First of all it’s wise to look around so you can see what everyone has to offer. The choice isn’t really that big of a deal, as you as you can go on the internet. But what are the perks? The providers want new customers so they’re bound to have discounts and other win-win options. And your bank account wins too! The speed of you connection is just one of few things you need to pay attention to. Some providers let you customize your subscription after sealing the deal. It’s important you get to have a say in things, as you don’t want to get stuck in a deal that doesn’t result in what’s best for you.
Compare gifts
While browsing around for internet subscriptions, it’s a good idea to pay attention to the extras the providers are, well, providing. A free phone for example, or tv on demand (internet tv). And think about how you want to use your internet. Are your main activities surfing and emailing? You will definitely not need a fast and expensive connection. But if you’re ready to download all those movies you still haven’t seen, you want to invest in the speed of your internet connection.
Conclusion?
You don’t share ADSL, but if you’re located too far from the power sation, this might have an influence on the speed of your internet. You do share cable with other people, and this might have an influence on your connection speed as well… whatever you choose, it’s a matter of trying and see for yourself. No matter how many neighbours you have, you’ll still be able to download stuff. Also when you’ve got ADSL!

How to Use Twitter Like the Pros
by: Matthew Loop
For those that haven't heard, Twitter is a super-sweet medium where folks can glance into your life to see who you really are. This being said, it's a good idea to post "Tweets" about things that are going on in your life daily, as well as what you're doing and thinking about. Now, I'm not saying you need to document your entire life's story, but simple let people know when something worth posting surfaces. I recommend Tweeting articles and videos that are comical in nature or regular things that allow someone to look into your world.
The tweets that you post daily are very revealing about yourself and basically tell others if you have things in common or if you're just plain crazy! I've met several people that are interesting in outdoor sports, internet marketing, and people that have the same type of dog I do. It's pretty incredible with whom you can connect with in this form of social media
When navigating on Twitter, pay attention to what people are saying. If there is a question someone has posted, go right ahead and answer it. I know, at first it may feel like eavesdropping, but I assure you everything is fine. When viewing a Tweet that you want to comment on, don't think, just do it.
This is a short-list of reasons to use Twitter every day:
1) You can easily establish connections and meet new friends
2) You get fresh, minute-by-minute insight as to what is happening in peoples lives
3) You get access to links to articles folks have read and particularly enjoyed
4) It's the perfect place to ask legit questions and obtain answers
5) You can connect with people in your local area
6) You can get loads of new business
Twitter is actually pretty easy to understand, you just have to begin today and get familiar with it. I would rate it much simpler than many other social networks that I've discussed in the past. Keep in mind that you always want to add value to a Twitter conversation. This is very basic. If you contribute something of value, individuals will thank you and be inclined to remember you. Some my decide to also follow you in return. In its basic form, though, you'll have gotten someones attention.
The first thing to do once you get on Twitter is to get yourself a user name. I chose @MatthewLoop, so feel free to follow me so you can stay up-to-date on the newest social media happenings and strategies. Decide which of the examples below you want to mimic. If you want, you can alter the names later, but makes sure you think ahead. In a local niche, review these hypothetical listings below for ideas.
- Plummer & your Name = @PlummerJack
- Attorney Related = @AttorneyLady
- Name & Area / Location = @JaredMI
- Brand-Name = @FreeCreditBen
Do yourself a favor and set-up an account on Twitter today. I can promise you it's just as fun and addicting as Myspace, YouTube, or Facebook. In the coming days I will also be putting up a video on one of my YouTube channels so keep your eyes posted as well. Continued success!

Bing Search Engine
by: Sue Cooper
The Bing search engine is Microsoft’s foray into the search engine market. It is not their first attempt at creating a search engine though. In fact, the Bing search engine was developed from the Microsoft Live search engine. It is a powerful search engine which yields many relevant results for just about any keywords you enter.
The results obtained from Bing are typically quite useful. They are also well laid out with a list of results appearing in the main column of the results page. There are also subheadings, which feature related keywords and a few results for these related keywords. This feature is useful from a user’s perspective because it can help them find a wide variety of information for one subject rather quickly. The layout also clearly distinguishes results from sponsored sites by placing these results on the right hand sidebar under the column heading Sponsored Sites. The other keywords featured on the results page are listed at the top of the sidebar on the left hand side for easy navigation. There is also a list of related searches you can jump to for even more information.
The Bing search engine does not just let you search for relevant websites though. Like other popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo!, there is also the ability to search for keywords in specific categories. Some of these categories include images, videos, shopping, news, maps and travel. There is also a really cool visual search feature which lets you navigate through pictures which may be of interest to you. To use this feature you can either enter keywords or navigate through a series of categories until you find a photo of interest to you.
Although Bing might not be the most well known or the most popular search engine available, it is definitely worthwhile for website owners to monitor their rankings and take measures to attempt to improve their rankings. This is simply because it is a Microsoft product and many people are fans of anything Microsoft does and will utilise this search engine out of brand loyalty. However, it does not make sense to optimise for this search engine at the expense of more popular search engines, such as Google. For example, it would not make sense to make changes to your website simply to improve your Bing ratings if these same changes lowered your Google ratings.

Who Created Google?
by: Sue Cooper
Do you want to know a secret? The answer to the question in the title of this article is me. That’s right, I created Google. No, really, and so did you. You don’t believe me? Okay, maybe that is because you have already heard the story of how Google was created by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, PhD’s of Stanford University, and how the concept for Google was born of Page’s dissertation idea to investigate the mathematical properties at work online. It is truly a great story and Page and Brin do get the credit for creating the company known as Google, but they are not solely responsible for the popularity of the company. This is where you and I come into the picture.
Well, before we come into the picture I have to admit the marketing team at Google also played a significant role in the success of Google. While Page and Brin put together the concept behind the page rank system, it is their marketing staff who really helped to promote Google as the superior choice in search engines. The fact that Google produces reliable results is important, but there are other search engines out there such as Yahoo! and Bing that are also doing this, but they are not nearly as popular as Google.
Think about when your friend asks you the name of a song and you can’t think of the answer. Do you tell him to just DogPile it? Do you tell them to Yahoo! it? No, you are much more likely to tell him to Google it. That is because the marketing team at Google has done such an excellent job of branding this company that their name has come to mean search engine in the minds of many internet users. It is the first place many of them turn for any information they want.
Which brings us to why I created Google! Right, it wasn’t just me, you helped too. Page and Brin created the concept their marketing team promoted, but it is the users of the internet who embraced it so wholeheartedly. It is also the users of the internet who have remained loyal to the brand. While other fads on the internet have come and gone, this search engine is showing no signs of losing popularity because the internet users are happy with the results they receive when they use Google.
